Remembrance and Peace : a discussion

What did it mean to be a conscientious objector in World War One? What are the rights of those who refuse to fight in the world today? and how can we best remember their commitment?
Drawing on research undertaken for talks given as a Quaker Peace and Social Witness speaker, this session will offer an introduction to:
- conscription in World War l
- the realities of claiming a conscientious objection to military service, then and now
and invite us to consider how best to commemorate those who refused to kill.
